I would like to thank the Greater Columbia Chapter, alumni, family, friends and sponsors for all their support over the last year and for all their hard work involved in making the Chapter events a success.
We have another challenging year ahead of us that will culminate in July 2009 with the 2009 SCSUNAA National Convention in Columbia. (Insert is Downtown, Columbia, SC.) We will need the support of all alumni and the community to make the convention a success. The GCCSCSU has gone through many changes over the years and have had membership levels as high as 215 members during the 2003/2004 year and 210 members for the 2004/2005 year. We need your help to exceed those levels, to go forward. And, I look forward to seeing each of you actively participating. Email your requests for information to info@capitalcitybulldogs.com. For information on this year's convention, please see the 2008 National Convention

We continue to focus on supporting the University through contributions to the SCSU National Alumni Association Scholarship Fund and awarding the Annual Greater Columbia Chapter Scholarships. In 2008, the Chapter hosted an inaugural, highly successful GARNET & BLUE GALA to support all of its endeavors. The Gala will return on Valentine's Day in 2009 -a Bulldog love affair! Email your requests for information to info@capitalcitybulldogs.com.
We have sponsored several High School Night college career and recruitment events held at local Columbia high schools and that included representation from the institution. Our highly successful bus trips to Youth Day during Football season have exposed youth from the Greater Columbia area to the college environment and SCSU.
Since 2003, the chapter has also leveraged this website at www.capitalcitybulldogs.com to not only help to keep alumni informed of institutional advancements, activities and alumni affairs but it promotes campus departments and programs, e.g. Admissions, Scholarships and Recruitment, Marching Band, Henderson-Davis Players, Student Government Association, WSSB Radio Station, Summer Camps, and so forth. Additional Web links direct alumni and supporters to websites of particular interests. And, a recent online payment upgrade to the website has allowed us to connect to our alumni and supporters in a new and exciting way.
You can make the volunteer work of helping our community and alma mater worth the effort. It is a pleasure to serve as your Chapter president, and I look forward to working with you on our next endeavor.
Mr. Frederick Wilson '86, President
